South Georgia Black Ministries
Vision
The Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and
make it plain
Upon tables, that he may run that readeth it Hab 2:2
Bishop Johnnie Quarterman
It’s my passionate desire to win lost souls for Christ,
by making disciples,
through
strengthening our
existing churches, and planting new
churches for the glory of God’s kingdom. In Matt 28:19-20
the bible says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, Lo, I am with you
always, even unto the end of the world, Amen." As a
result we must
stand upon the principles of holiness in the spirit of love
to promote unity among all ethnicities as we labor together
to reach the harvest for the Lord Jesus Christ!
Our core Strategy
From this diagram you can see how each area of ministry
is a separate, yet connected function. These ministries
individually serve as a catalyst to the whole dynamic
process of our core strategy. The positive flow of this
ministerial concept will be initiated through intense
Pastoral Training; this will provide the spark necessary to
strengthen our churches to be healthy and productive
congregations. As the congregation continues to grow and be
more productive, committed leaders will be developed who
possess the biblical DNA mindset, for the churches they
plant to be germinal. This means that each new church plant
will be able to multiply our core strategy, with unlimited
possibilities. Furthermore this church planting concept
removes cultural and philosophical barriers, setting a new
paradigm among church planting models. It’s our intent to
plant twenty new Churches of God using this strategy, to
advance God’s kingdom in the South Georgia Area.

Our vision statement
Let’s win the lost and plant new churches by
"Pressing into the harvest"
Note: this particular vision statement will be
consistently repeated to our church body for encouragement
that our goal is obtainable. This vision statement will also
appear on our stationary and informational articles.
The Reason for Our Commitments
Pastoral Training
Church Strengthening
Leadership Development
Church Planting
We have adopted these four objectives because our vision
for the South Georgia Church of God is simple, it’s
Biblical! God’s will for advancing his kingdom, rest upon
these four foundational pillars. For example, the Lord Jesus
Christ trained His disciples and equipped them with power
before they won the lost, Mk 1:16-17, and Acts 1:8. The
Great Commission in Matt 28:19-20 admonishes us to make
disciples also. This discipleship emphasis will produce
successful pastors, church leaders and workers
of the ministry. The Apostles implemented this strategy to
spark church growth, strength and
leadership in Acts 14:21-23, 15:41 also in Acts 16: 5.
In 2Tim 2:2 the Apostle Paul tells Timothy to commit the
gospel to faithful men who shall be able to teach others
also. This implies that leadership development should
be a necessary yet continuous process. In Matt 16:18 the
Lord Jesus Christ states "And I say also unto thee, that
thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church
and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it;"
this means that the church is to always advance itself
through new converts and church planting. When news
came to the Jerusalem church from the Apostle Peter about
how the Holy Ghost fell on the Gentiles, the congregation
sent forth Barnabas to go as far as Antioch to plant more
churches Acts 11:22. As a result we have focused our vision
on these four Foundational Pillars Pastoral Training, Church
Strengthening, Leadership Development, and church planting
as our method to advance God’s kingdom.
How will we accomplish our goal?
We will accomplish our goal to plant new churches by
training our pastors to think biblically about the mission
field. This intense Pastoral Training will take place
through continual workshops and seminars that will provide
the biblical insight necessary to strengthen, grow and
develop new leaders for the purpose of planting new
churches, from an Black-American perspective. Here’s a brief
example summary of the training sessions.
In order to plant new churches that will reproduce
themselves: we must train our pastors and leaders to
understand the biblical mindset of the two most fundamental
building blocks of church planting:
A. The Church is Germinal! This means that within one
local church, many churches are awaiting to emerge in birth!
This Biblical Strategy is set forth in Acts 11:22 revealing
how churches are planted, when the laity is involved as a
result of Pastoral Leadership. It’s this writer’s passion to
teach this biblical strategy to the South Georgia pastors to
advance God’s kingdom within our movement.
Brief overview of this strategy Acts 10th & 11th
Chapter (the church is germinal)
Peter shares the gospel at Cornelius’s house
Gentile believers are baptized in the Holy Ghost
for the first time
Peter shares this testimony at the Jerusalem
church
The Jerusalem Church laity responds by sending
forth Barnabas, to plant other churches as far as
Antioch
The Antioch Church possesses this Biblical
Strategy that the church is Germinal which
influenced the apostle Paul who was the greatest
church planter in the first century.
B. The Biblical Process of Edification The second
building block of church planting that we’ll teach our
pastors, is to understand that the church must be edified,
through a leadership who adopts a biblical mindset, attitude
and disposition that expresses continually what is right
about the church! In order for our churches to be healthy
and grow they must lead through the biblical process of
edification. This dynamic concept can be briefly understood
from 1Cor 14:12 which says "Even so ye, forasmuch as
ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek ye that ye may excel
to the edifying of church." This means that Pastors
should adopt and teach the laity, how to constantly seek out
creative and relevant methods through which the church can
be edified and encouraged. Acts 15:41 shows the Apostle Paul
confirming or strengthening the church through edification.
In Acts 16:4-5 it reveals how the churches were established
and increased because the decrees were delivered to them;
but it was done through a specific method (edification).
The Apostle Paul saw the Church as already complete, Col
2:10. He was confident of their success by thanking God, for
them even during difficult struggles Phil. 1:3-6 this is the
Biblical Process of Edification that pastors must embrace
for church growth and strengthening.
