South Georgia School of Ministry / CIMS

Scholarship Program

In order to provide more in-depth personalized ministerial training, the School of Ministry and the Office of Ministerial Development have developed the Certificate in Ministerial Studies (CIMS) for all Church of God ministers and ministerial prospects.    All ministers are encouraged to avail themselves of the educational opportunities offered by the Church of God School of Ministry.

The Church of God in South Georgia will offer a $40 per credit hour scholarship to each credentialed minister enrolled in the School of Ministry CIMS Program who meet the following criteria:

1)     The scholarship candidate must be enrolled in the School of Ministry and must complete an application for scholarship.

2)     The scholarship candidate must be in active ministry, serving as pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor, evangelist, minister of music, or another ministerial function, and the candidate’s level of activity must be attested to by the District Overseer.

3)     The scholarship will be available to those students who participate in a Distance Learning Center or Distance Learning Seminar.  Independent Study students may be considered for a scholarship if there is not a Distant Learning site within 50 miles of the student’s home.  In such cases, approval for scholarship must be reviewed by the State Overseer and the State CIMS Administrator.

4)     This scholarship will not be applied to CIMS courses that are taken in conjunction with the Ministerial Internship Program.

5)     Payment of the scholarship will be made after the student has successfully completed all assigned course work and tests.  Payment will be made directly to the School of Ministry office in Cleveland, Tennessee.

A CIMS Distance Learning Center may be established at any local church.

Requirements are:

  1. Provide suitable learning environment and audio visual equipment.

  2. Promotion of program and recruitment of students.  The program is open to all clergy and interested lay leadership.

  3. Distance Learning Center Coordinator must be appointed by the State CIMS Administrator with approval of the State Administrative Bishop.

  4. Distance Learning Center Coordinator must complete orientation offered by the State CIMS Administrator and be fully informed of the CIMS policies and procedures as published in the CIMS Operations Manual.
